What to Expect on Installation Day

Replacement windows must be installed to very exact standards. Because our windows are manufactured for each customers' home and specific needs, we go one step further to ensure that our customers have the finished product that they were shopping for.  We ensure this by having our fully trained in house window installation team install your windows, giving you a customized window installation desgined with the character and functionality of your home in mind.   

At Northome We Install What We Sell

Each installation team member has been trained to ensure that our stringent quality control and craftsmanship requirements are followed when installing your windows. Our Installation team has knowledge of how the windows are manufactured and have the ability to adust and service our windows.   Most certainly the professional window installers that come to install your new Northome Comfort Windows will have installed hundreds if not thousands of Northome windows.

You Can Expect An Efficient Process

  • Two to three weeks before your windows are to be installed, we will mail out an information sheet that will explain what to expect on the day of your window installation. 
  • Once we have completed your window order, a customer service representative from our office will give you a call to work out a date with you for your windows to be installed. They can answer any questions that you may have about your window order and advise you of the time that the installation crew should arrive.   
  • On the day of your window installation, our installation crew leaves Northome at 7:00 AM and depending on the distance of your home from our shop, we will usually arrive at your home within a few hours.
  • Our installers will have all the materials and supplies they will need to install your whole window job.  Typically we can install a whole house of windows in one day.

One of the many advantages of buying from a company that manufactures their own windows is if a window part should break, or a frame needs to be remade, our installers can simply phone our factory and they will make up a new frame and dispatch a new part right away. 

What to Expect When our Installation Crew Arrives At Your Home

Northome Comfort Windows ensures its installation crew treats our customers’ home as though it was their own. They will do their best to  leave your home and yard completely free of signs that the crew was ever there.

  • We will cover your floor and any nearby furniture with drop sheets to keep those areas clean and to prevent any damage to your flooring and furniture.
  • Before we remove your old windows, we re-measure your openings and make sure the new windows are within correct tolerances. 
  • We'll remove your old windows, doing our best to not break any of the glass. 
  • We'll prepare the window opening and replace deterioratied material if needed. We will then install your new windows into their openings. Adjust it to ensure that it is level and plumb.   Sealing, caulking and insulating the exterior and interior, to ensure a proper seal.  
  • If you are changing your interior trim board, we will install it for your. However, we can install your new windows without removing or damaging your interior trim. 

Once Your Window Installation is Completed

  • We will clean up our work areas, both inside and out. We will vacuum the rooms worked in and clean up any residual debris from the installation. Outside work areas will be raked for debris, driveways swept and any garbage bagged neatly. 
  • If we are disposing of your old windows we will then load them into our trailer once the work is done.  If you are keeping your old windows, we will stack them neatly on a trailer or in a location that you have specified.
  • While clean up is progressing, our job foreman will inspect the windows, make sure they open and close easily, fill out our quality control checklist making sure that the windows meet all of our standards.
  • We will take the time to show you how your new windows work and answer any questions you may have.
  • Payment will be due upon completion of these steps.  Our foreman will fill out a reciept showing your payment.

We are committed to the health and safety of our workers and strive to prevent workplace injuries.  We are happy working in partnership with Occupational Health and Safety(OHS) and the Saskatchewan Construction Safety Association adhering to regulations and standards. We are in good standing with the Saskatchewan Workers Compensation Board. Our WBC # is 5676134 Industry Code B1304. 

This is important to know. If you hire anyone to do work for you on or around your home and they are not in good standing with the Workers Compensation Board, you the homeowner may be liable should an injury occur at your home.
