Warranties guarantee against defects in workmanship and materials. They do not guarantee against wear, incorrect use, nor do they guarantee performance. To get assurance that the product you select to do a given job is going to stand up, you should learn about the product, the materials used and engineering design in all of it’s components, not only for today’s use but for the longevity and serviceability of the product. Look for proven track records of the organization selling you the product. Have they been selling the same product or have they had to switch product suppliers, because they did not do their homework at the beginning and find a quality product to market. Or did they just buy on price without regard of performance, longevity, and serviceability. The benefits of doing business with an organization who has stuck with the same product over the years is that you know it has a proven track record.
Over the years we have studied many warranties and have found they all say the same thing about guaranteeing against defects, not wear or misuse. They also suggest, receiving warranty remedy the purchased item has to be returned to the factory or retail outlet.
Where returning the defective item to its source does not make logical sense The warranties suggest a very minor time for on site corrections, within a given travel distance. The given travel distance has been typically within 100K the time allowed for on site warranty correction has been as little as 90 days up to a maximum of 2 years.
We have always said that we will provide onsite remedy of product warranty deficiencies for 5 years. We also provide an installation warranty for five years where most only have a 1or 2 year installation warranty.
FOLLOW-UP
Our client’s relationship with Northome Comfort Windows continues for years after the installation. We send a questionnaire after 1 year, when our client has experienced the performance of their windows through four seasons. Then, they receive a questionnaire after 5 years, 10, 15, and 20 years after installation in an ongoing effort to stay in touch with our customers and to get feedback on our service and product. We do not know of anyone to ever go back to their client base 20 years later to make sure they are still happy.
WORKERS COMPENSATION
We can usually install all the windows in an average home in one day with five to eight qualified installers. On most jobs and most days there are two crews at jobsites. All of our workers are covered under the Sask Workers Compensation Board, which is important to know because if you hire anyone to do work for you on or around your home and they are not in good standing with the Workers Compensation Board, you the homeowner, are then the employer and are then liable to pay the Workers Compensation fee. Our Saskatchewan's Workers Compensation Board Number is #56 7613 4
